Welcome to Dayspring

Exploring all your options for birth? You have come to the right place.  Dayspring has many services available to you. As you consider an out-of-hospital birth you are taking on a greater responsibility for your own health and  that of your unborn. We believe that being well informed of your options and the care you receive will help you have the best birthing experience.

We are excited that you are considering midwifery.  Our goal at Dayspring is to provide you with the best care, the least amount of technical intervention, and continual education to assist you in through out your childbearing years.

Hi, my name is Inga Arts, LM, CPM.  I am Licensed Midwife, as well as a Certified Professional Midwife CPM and founder of Dayspring Midwifery est. 1997.  I am so pleased to have this wonderful birthing center and a team like the one here at Dayspring.  It takes a lot of key people to really be able to give
the kind of care and support we offer.  It is our pleasure to service the families in our community in this way.

Our goal is to care for healthy low risk women through an essentially normal pregnancy and delivery.

Midwifery Model of Care

As of July 1, 2010, it became mandatory for all practicing midwives to be licensed by the state of Idaho.  This came after a looooong few years of hard work to make out of hospital births even more safe for the families we serve.

A licensed midwife is a midwife who has met the standards for certification set by the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) and further training required by the state of Idaho.  She is qualified to provide the Midwives Model of Care. The NARM certification  process as well as Idaho, recognizes multiple routes of entry into midwifery and includes verification of knowledge and skills and the successful completion of both a Written Examination and Skills Assessment. As LMs, we uphold the highest standards in midwifery care.  LMs are trained to recognize and screen for and handle certain complications. If at any time during your care, complications arise, which are out of our scope of practice or may contraindicate a safe out-of-hospital birth, you will be referred/transferred to a physician.

Our Birth Philosophy

It is our belief that the childbearing cycle is, for the majority of women, a healthy normal function, best completed with minimal interventions and maximum education and  support.

We believe that optimum birth experience is best achieved when a midwife and client  work closely together and share the responsibility for a successful outcome.  Informed consent is used for making decisions regarding care.  Clients are given information and resources to research all procedures and tests which enables them to look
at pros and cons for traditional care vs alternative care.  Clients then can be well informed about their healthcare needs and take charge of decisions made concerning them and/or their newborn.

Each family is unique and will be treated as individuals, with respect and flexibility.  Every mother will be given the well deserved opportunity to labor and deliver in the manner and position in which she chooses. Every baby will be provided the best possible, gentle transition from the womb into the loving arms of mom.
